Watercolour Christmas Wreath

addicted to stamps

Hi all! I’m back today for the first of three posts to inspire you to start making your Christmas cards if you haven’t started, or share more ideas if you’re running out of ways to make them! My first card is for our “Make Your Mark” challenge over at Addicted to Stamps and More, so get your markers, pencils, paints and show us  what you can do with them!

For our last challenge of the year, I wanted to make an extra special card using… my watercolours of course! So to create this wreath, I just stamped and masked and stamped and masked… the mistletoe stamp from Create A Smile’s “Festive Foliage” set. I then set out to watercolour it with my Daniel Smith’s watercolours, using Green Gold for the first layer and Green Apatite Genuine for the darker areas and Quinacridone Red for the berries. I used Raphael’s 8408 no 6 brush which has a an extra fine point, really great to get into those small areas.

I have to say I’m quite proud of my water-colouring here. ☺️ I realised while painting it that I’ve improved in adding depth and dimension, something I’ve always had problem with. This is coming to me quite naturally now… after 1 year of painting, it was about time!!

I didn’t want to add a sentiment, just stained the edges a little, added a bow and the card is ready to be sent off! Well thanks for stopping by and I do hope you’ll pop over to my teamies over at Addicted to Stamps and More to see what wonderful projects they have created just for your viewing pleasure! Have a great creative day, and I look forward to seeing what you have left your mark on.
