Hi all! Its Wednesday so another challenge starts over at Addicted to Stamps and More. For this week, we have a wonderful Photo inspiration above and I can’t wait to see what you do with it!
For me, it was a chance to use the butterfly stamp from Crafters Companion, for the first time, and it was also such a pleasure to get a little water-colouring done, as I haven’t had much time since I started working again, and I really missed it! Using stamps also saved me at least an hour as I always take such a long time to draw my images as I’m not very good at it. I did a little photo tutorial below so grab a cuppa, sit back and enjoy!
I started by stamping the butterfly with Spectrum Noir water-proof ink on 300g watercolour paper
I used the Prussian Blue Aqua marker and just added a short stroke from left to right beside the body of the butterfly, then used a water brush to bring the colour to the rest of the wing
I did the same on the other wing, being careful to leave some blank spots to fill in with my turquoise Aquatint brush from Spectrum Noir. This brush gives very vibrant colour.
I then added the black edges to my butterfly using my black Spectrum Noir Aqua marker
To add my flowery wreath, I first drew a circle around my butterfly and then stamped in the flowers using flower stamps from Hampton Art.
To get the water-colour look, I pressed the stamps into my water-reactive ink pads from Spectrum Noir, lightly sprayed water on them and stamped it around my butterfly. Easy Peasy!
Well, I hope my little tutorial was helpful and that it will inspire you to join in our challenge over at Addicted to Stamps and More. I look forward to seeing your wonderful creations in the link-up!
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!
