Hi all! It’s a “Holiday” theme at Addicted to Stamps and More and we would like to see any holiday theme card or images of your holidays in the link up. As Rosh Hashanah is just in afew days, I though I’d make a Jewish New Year card to wish my Jewish friends and all my Jewish readers, “A Good and Sweet Year”!
I will always be grateful for my dear friend Dalit, who is only one of two Jewish friends I have, for inviting me into their homes when they celebrated their Jewish holidays and enlightening me with their traditions and meanings… and the delicious foods made during this period! So this card is especially for her and I took great pleasure in painting it.
Apples and Honey are a traditional Rosh Hashanah meal to symbolise the hope for sweetness and blessings in the year ahead. I created my scene by stamping the apples from Clearly Besotted in red or yellow distress inks on Guardi Artistico 300gm watercolour paper. To create the half apple, I stamped on only half of the whole apple stamp. The (oversized, sorry I’m really bad with proportions) honey dipper was drawn in by me and the whole scene painted using Winsor and Newtown watercolours and a Raphael Maestro no 2 size brush.
I love how the texture of this paper provides a natural textural background to my card. The sentiment comes from CASual Friday stamps, and I really like the font they used for these sentiments.
Well I hope you liked my watercolour card and I appreciate the time you took to stop by and I look forward to reading your comments. Do stop over at the Addicted to Stamps and More challenge blog and see what my teammies have created just for your viewing pleasure.
Thanks for stopping by and have a creative day!
Hugs,

I’m late in visiting, but I wanted to come see the detail of this card– so glad I did! Thoughtfully made, gorgeously colored… what a winner! Your apples look just (red) delicious 😋 haha, and the drawn honey dipper is just fine– I always thought I just owned a tiny one… or maybe I just think they should be bigger! Happy New Year.

Thanks for thinking of us as we enter this holiest time of year for Jews. I always look forward to Rosh HaShanah! I also find myself eating my challah with honey for a long while after. Apples and honey are a year-round treat for me. Have a great time with your friends and I will think of you as we start our seder!

Beautifully colored images Gwendolyn, those apples and the honey dripping on them look good enough to eat!! and how clever the way you created that apple section, I also thought it was a stamp on the set, you are so creative.
If you wouldn’t have mentioned the “oversized” honey dripper, I wouldn’t have noticed, it looks really fabulous.!!!
Thank you for sharing your delicious card with us over at SHOPPING OUR STASH, I hope you play again soon.
